May 12 is International Fibromyalgia Awareness Day!
In addition to my lupus, I also have fibromyalgia. One of my best friends has recently been diagnosed with it. I love it. I think even though I know a little bit about pain and fibro, I can not help her accept this diagnosis. I saw her suffer emotionally and physically. I saw his life change dramatically with this disease. Hopefully, this awareness day will highlight a condition that is often misunderstood.
fibro-ribbon May 12 Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease characterized by widespread pain in muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple pain points – specific points in the body where mild pressure causes pain. The intensity of the symptoms may vary. Although fibromyalgia can not be cured, it is neither progressive nor life-threatening. Doctors do not know what causes fibromyalgia.
