Cannabinoïden hebben een breed scala aan medicinale toepassingen die al duizenden jaren oud zijn. Op dit moment documenteren verschillende peer-reviewed wetenschappelijke publicaties de onderliggende biochemische routes die cannabinoïden moduleren.
Deze pleisters bevatten een krachtig cannabinoïde-extract (CBD), de tweede belangrijkste cannabinoïde in marihuana na THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Het extract komt langzaam in de bloedbaan en komt vervolgens het centrale zenuwstelsel van de patiënt binnen om als analgeticum te fungeren.
