L’acouphène   est le terme médical pour   “entendre” les    bruits dans les oreilles lorsqu’il n’y a pas de sons externes. Les sons que vous entendez peuvent être doux ou forts et ressembler à un sifflement, un    sifflement, un rugissement, un bourdonnement, un sifflement, un chuchotement ou un pépiement.  On peut même penser qu’il écoute    l’échappement de l’air, de l’eau courante, de l’intérieur d’un escargot marin ou de notes de musique.

Considérations L’   acouphène est commun. Presque tout le monde a de temps en temps une forme légère d’acouphène qui ne dure que quelques minutes. Cependant, les acouphènes constants ou récurrents sont stressants et peuvent nuire à la concentration ou au sommeil.

Causes   On ne sait pas avec certitude ce qui pousse une personne à    “entendre” les    sons lorsqu’il n’y a pas de source de son externe. 

Cependant, les acouphènes peuvent être le symptôme de presque tous les problèmes auditifs, tels que:  

• infections de l’oreille

• Corps étrangers ou cérumen dans l’oreille

• Perte auditive due aux bruits forts

• la  maladie de Ménière, un trouble de l’oreille interne qui implique une perte d’audition et des vertiges  

• La consommation d’alcool, de caféine, d’antibiotiques, d’acide acétylsalicylique (aspirine) et d’autres drogues peut également causer des bruits d’oreille.

• Les acouphènes peuvent présenter une perte auditive. Parfois, il s’agit d’un signe d’hypertension, d’allergie ou d’anémie. Rarement, les acouphènes sont le signe d’un problème grave, tel qu’une tumeur ou un anévrisme. 

Soins à domicile

Les acouphènes peuvent être masqués par d’autres sons: la musique à faible volume, le tic-tac des horloges ou d’autres bruits peuvent vous aider à ne pas remarquer les acouphènes. Le bourdonnement est souvent plus perceptible lorsque vous vous allongez la nuit car l’environnement est plus calme. 

Tout son dans la pièce, tel qu’un humidificateur, une machine produisant des bruits uniformes ou un ventilateur, peut aider à masquer l’acouphène et à le rendre moins irritant.

• Apprenez des façons de vous détendre. Le stress ne cause pas d’acouphènes, mais se sentir stressé ou anxieux peut aggraver les choses.

• Évitez la caféine, l’alcool et le tabac

• Reposez-vous

• Essayez de dormir avec la tête surélevée

• Cela diminue la congestion dans la tête et le bruit peut devenir moins perceptible

• Protégez vos oreilles et votre audition pour éviter d’autres dommages

• Évitez les endroits bruyants et les sons

• Utilisez des bouchons d’oreille si vous en avez besoin.

Consultez votre médecin ou votre infirmière si:  

• Les bruits dans les oreilles commencent après une blessure à la tête

• Les bruits présentent d’autres symptômes inexpliqués, tels que    vertiges, perte d’équilibre, nausées ou vomissements. 

• Il y a un bruit auditif inexpliqué qui vous gêne même après avoir appliqué les mesures d’autoassistance.

• Le bruit n’est présent que dans une oreille et dure plusieurs semaines ou plus. 

Les examens suivants peuvent être effectués:  

• audiologie / audiométrie pour évaluer la perte auditive

• scanner de la tête

• Résonance magnétique de la tête. • Études vasculaires (angiographie).
