Tinnitus   är den medicinska termen för   “hörsel”    ljud i öronen när det inte finns några yttre ljud. Ljuden du hör kan vara mjukt eller högt och kan låta som en visselpipa, en    visselpipa, ett brus, en surrande, visslande, viskande eller kvittrande.  Man kan till och med tro att han lyssnar på    flyg från luft, rinnande vatten, insidan av en marin snigel eller noter.

Överväganden   Tinnitus är vanlig. Nästan alla människor upplever en mild form av tinnitus från tid till annan, som bara varar några minuter. Konstant eller återkommande tinnitus är emellertid stressfull och kan hindra koncentration eller sömn.

Orsaker   Det är inte säkert med säkerhet som orsakar en person att    “höra”    låter när det inte finns någon extern ljudkälla. 

Tinnitus kan dock vara ett symptom på nästan alla hörselproblem, såsom:  

• Öroninfektioner

• Främmande kroppar eller cerumen i örat

• Hörselnedsättning på grund av höga ljud

•  Meniros sjukdom, en inre öronstörning som innebär hörselnedsättning och vertigo  

• Konsumtionen av alkohol, koffein, antibiotika, acetylsalicylsyra (aspirin) och andra droger kan också orsaka hörsel

• Tinnitus kan förekomma med hörselnedsättning. Ibland är det ett tecken på högt blodtryck, allergi eller anemi. Sällan är tinnitus ett tecken på ett allvarligt problem, såsom en tumör eller en aneurysm. 


Tinnitus kan maskeras med andra ljud: musik med låg volym, klockning av klockor eller andra ljud kan hjälpa dig att inte märka tinnitus. Buzz är ofta mer märkbar när du ligger ner på natten, eftersom omgivningen är tystare. 

Något ljud i rummet som en luftfuktare, en maskin som producerar en enhetlig buller eller fläkt kan hjälpa mask tinnitus och göra det mindre irriterande.

• Lär dig några sätt att koppla av. Stress orsakar inte tinnitus, men känner sig stressad eller orolig kan göra det värre

• Undvik koffein, alkohol och tobak

• Få gott om vila

• Försök att sova med ditt huvud uppåt i förhöjt läge

• Detta minskar trängseln i huvudet och bullret kan bli mindre märkbart

• Skydda öronen och hörseln för att förhindra ytterligare skador

• Undvik bullriga platser och ljud

• Använd öronproppar om du behöver dem.

Kontakta din läkare eller sjuksköterska om:  

• Ljud i öronen börjar efter en huvudskada

• Buller som finns med andra oförklarliga symtom, t.ex.    yrsel, förlust av balans, illamående eller kräkningar. 

• Det finns ett oförklarligt hörsel ljud som är irriterande för dig även efter att du har tillämpat självhjälpsåtgärderna.

• Bullret är bara i ett öra och fortsätter i flera veckor eller mer. 

Följande tentor kan göras:  

• Audiologi / audiometri för att bedöma hörselnedsättning

• CT-skanning av huvudet

• Magnets resonans hos huvudet • Vaskulära studier (angiografi).
